Functional Awareness®: Anatomy in Action for Yoga
100-Hour Continuing Education at Brooklyn Yoga Project

Functional Awareness® (FA) is an approach to embodied anatomy through reflective somatic practice that provides tools for yoga students and teachers to discover ease in action both on and off the yoga mat. The mission of Functional Awareness® is to enhance understanding of movement function and improve dynamic alignment. This continuing education offers training in Functional Awareness® principles of anatomical visualization and sensorimotor cueing strategies for effective movement coaching. This includes a practice in assisting through hands-on adjustments. Functional Awareness® Yoga Teachers (FAYTs) develop a firm foundation in anatomical and somatic approaches to movement. Participants learn specific strategies and skills to apply this knowledge on and off the mat.

Training Schedule

6 weekends at Brooklyn Yoga Project:

Friday 5:45pm-7:45pm
Saturday 2:00pm-9:00pm (break 5pm-6pm)
Sunday 2:00pm-9:00pm (break 4:30-7pm).

First three weekends in 2019 are:
February 8, 9, 10; February 22, 23, 24; and March 8, 9, 10

The second three weekends will be in Fall 2019.

Training will also include 25 hours of readings, reflection, and teaching application.
